Bangladesh Brand Forum is organizing this year’s Leadership Summit under the theme of “Realizing Potentials”. Several global and local leaders will be speaking in key notes and panels. This fourth edition of the summit is going to take off on 23rd April, 2016 at Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel.

Five global leaders from different corporate sectors around the world will join the summit and share their unique experiences, insights and learnings in their journey of leadership in key notes. They will inspire the youth to join the bumpy yet exciting journey of being a leader. The summit also includes panel discussions led by local leaders and the launching of Mind Your Marketing, a journal of World Marketing Summit. Apart from that, there will be a special youth engagement session with both global and local speakers for the university students.

The Daily Star has selected top students from various universities to attend the summit through Strategy Master initiative. 10 students also won their ticket to the summit through an idea competition. Below are the details of the sessions and speaker profiles:



Prof. Amitava Chattopadhyay

Glaxo SmithKline Professor of Corporate Innovation, INSEAD.

Amitava Chattopadhyay is an expert on branding and his research has appeared in leading journals including the Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of Marketing etc. The topic in which he will be talking in youth leadership summit is “Leadership Guidelines for Driving Innovation”.


Ripa Rashid

Executive Vice President, Center for Talent Innovation, Managing Partner for Hewlett Consulting Partners, New York.

Ripa rashid works as an expert on a wide array of diversity topics, including targeted talent and inclusion strategies for women, multicultural, LGBT and other diverse executives, and on the links between diversity, innovation and corporate performance. She is a frequent panelist and guest speaker on themes of global diversity. She will talk on the topic-  “Growing Global Executives: The new competencies”.


Sanjiv Mehta

Chairman, Hindustan Unilever.

Sanjiv Mehta is the CEO and Managing Director of Hindustan Unilever Limited and Executive Vice President of Unilever South Asia. His wealth of experience has been primarily in consumer goods businesses and he has been with Unilever for the last 23 years. He will talk about “Leadership in the new age” on his session of Youth Leadership Summit.


Tom Cummings

Executive Board and Senior Management Advisor, Netherlands.

Tom Cumming is very known for his ability to bring new insights, sharp contrasts and fresh perspectives to his client engagements. His methods are client centered, and he draws on 25 years of experience with leaders and teams across a range of academic disciplines, industries and types of engagement. His topic on this Youth Leadership Summit is What We Know About “Transforming Potential Into Performance”.


Alia Khan

The Founder and Chairwoman, Islamic Fashion and Design Council (IFDC)

Alia Khan is the Founder and Chairwoman of Islamic Fashion and Design Council (IFDC), an organization established for the development of the Islamic fashion and design industry worldwide. With offices in 5 countries and growing rapidly to other countries, IFDC is the world’s leading fashion and design (art, architecture, interiors, etc.) council representing the Islamic economy and its stakeholders. She will talk about “Women in Leadership” on the summit.



Dr. Arif Dowla

Managing Director, ACI Limited

Dr. Arif Dowla took over the charge of Managing Director of ACI Limited in June 2005. He is also Vice Chairman of Mutual Trust Bank and Board member of Pioneer Insurance. He is also a member of the American Mathematics Society. He had his Ph.D in Mathematics from University of California, San Diego. ACI is one of the largest Bangladeshi conglomerates. The company operates through three reportable segments: Pharmaceuticals, Consumer Brands and Agribusiness. He will talk on “Realizing potentials: Bangladesh Perspective” on the summit.


Nazmul Hassan MP

President ,BCB and Managing Director, Beximco Pharma

Nazmul Hasan Papon is the president of Bangladesh Cricket Board. He was born in a political family. He is a member of parliament from Bangladesh Awami League.He is the managing director of Beximco Pharmaceutical Limited and Shinepukur Ceramics Limited and a director of Beximco Group. He will talk about the same topic stated above in the summit.


Munawar Misbah Moin

Managing Director, Rahimafrooz

Mr. Munawar Misbah Moin is the Managing Director of Rahimafrooz Renewable Energy Limited. He leads the Solar PV and Energy Services Business including Carbon Trading. Mr. Munawar Moin on behalf of the board leads the V2018 program to transform Rahimafrooz into one of the most admired and trusted world’s leading access to Energy Company with global rollout of SMART SHS and solarizing Bangladesh with over 100MW off grid and on grid installation. He completed his undergraduate studies in Business from St John’s University, Minnesota, USA.He will talk about the same topic stated above in the summit.


Hossain Khaled

President , DCCI

Hossain Khaled graduated with BSC (Hons.) in Computer Science from the Bangalore University, India and Masters in Media Technology and Engineering from University of Applied Science, Cologne, Germany. He also had a Diploma in Graphics, Animation and Web Engineering.He was the 5th Bangladeshi to reach the summit of Mount Everest. Currently he’s serving as the President of DCCI. He will talk about the same topic stated above in the summit.


Abrar A Anwar

Chief Executive Officer, Standard Chartered Bank

Abrar A. Anwar is the Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Bank, Bangladesh. He joined the Bank in 2011 as Head of Corporate & Institutional Clients. Standard Chartered PLC is a British multinational banking and financial services company headquartered in London. It operates a network of more than 1,200 branches and outlets (including subsidiaries, associates and joint ventures) across more than 70 countries and employs around 87,000 people. It is a universal bank with operations in consumer, corporate and institutional banking, and treasury services.  He will talk about the same topic stated above in the summit.
